| Louise Hedley – Following a research fellowship, Louise travelled to the UK to investigate the use of interactive whiteboards in the classroom. Since completing the fellowship she has undertaken the roles of IWB coordinator and ICT coordinator, leading two schools through full installation and implementation of the boards. Louise has focused on developing independent activities that can be used by small groups during learning centres to maximize the use of the whiteboards. This has also led to her creating planning documents to assist with the use and implementation of Interactive Whiteboards in the classroom. |

 | Description | This session looks at how you can develop the use of IWB during independent small-group learning centres in Literacy and Numeracy. It aims to exploit to use of an IWB and make the shift from using it as an introductory and concluding tool, to having students complete rich engaging tasks during Literacy or Numeracy learning centres. It will provide a range of adaptable activities that can be used with Primary Years classes to meet the needs of different ability based groups. Ideas for monitoring and assessment are also provided to support these activities.
In this session you will:
- Discuss classroom management strategies and ideas for planning to implement IWBs in Learning Centres
- Explore a range of activities that can be modified to suit individual needs
- Discuss monitoring and assessment of tasks completed on an IWB
- Take away a range of resourced that can be used in your learning centres upon your return to school.

Presenter: Dr. Sue Roffey
| Dr. Sue Roffey was a teacher for 17 years, mostly working with students who had a range of behavioural difficulties. She then became an educational psychologist involved not only with students, but also with families and schools. Since 2002 she has been lecturing on the school counsellor training course at the University of Western Sydney and working in schools around Australia. Sue’s extensive publications are not only based on research but on direct and indirect experiences of what works in creating supportive communities and maximising pro-social behaviour. This includes a focus on the wellbeing of teachers. |
